KillCams have been there in Call of Duty games for a long time now, and ironically the game-winning KillCam was added first in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2009). So it will be interesting if Activision decides to improve the KillCams in the reboot of the same series they were first introduced.  The rumors about customizable KillCams started when Call of Duty leaker @RalphsValve shared a diagram of a Patent registered by Activision; the diagram shows a rough drawing of a KillCam with multiple customization options around it to add, messages, pictures, gifs, audio, etc in the clip.

You can select between Play of the Game or a Final Kill – you’ll also be able to extensively edit in Graphics, Messages, Audio, GIFS, and Templates. You’ll be able to replicate stuff like this in-game, I am not kidding pic.twitter.com/Bbll4dUk5N — Ralph (@RalphsValve) November 13, 2022 Well, we already have seen something like KillCam customization in Call of Duty Vanguard, but it was mild, like just adding some borders around the screen, but this patent takes things to the next level. As for the patent details, it was applied for registration by Activision on 6th May 2022 and was published on 20th October 2022 with the title System And Method for Customizing a Reply of One or More Game Events in a Video Game. The description of the patent goes as follows: A system and method for customizing a replay of one or more game events in a video game is provided. During a gameplay session, a trigger event is detected prompting a replay of the trigger event in-game. One or more system-defined customization templates and/or user-defined customization templates may be applied to customize the trigger event replay. However, it should be noted that gaming companies register various patents that may or may not be used in their games but as a cautionary practice to protect their intellectual property, companies do take steps like this, and patents like this do not guarantee that this feature will be added for sure in the game.  So it will be wise to take this rumor with a grain of salt. Still, it will be interesting to see if Activision or Infinity Ward decides to add something like this in the game, and it will be fun for sure, as Call of Duty games are already famous for their hilarious voice chat room interactions and trolls and customization in KillCams will elevate things further.  It is also heavily rumored that Activision is working on a ton of year two content for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, including a premium DLC pack. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. So what are your thoughts about this? Will you be using the customization feature of KillCams, if they are ever added? Let us know in the comment section below.
