The Intel i3-13100F

First things first, the i3-13100 features a 4-core / 8-thread configuration with no e-cores. This CPU will arrive with 12MB of total cache while requiring just 65W of power. One should note that this SKU is merely an Alder Lake refresh so do not expect mind-boggling increments over the last-gen. This CPU should cost users between $100–$150. Now, let’s get to the performance metrics. The i3-13100F managed to score 1735 points in the single-core and 8837 points in the multi-core test when tested in Cinebench R23. That’s a respectable improvement over the 12100 considering we don’t exactly get to see more cores.  The single-core performance is higher than the i5-12400, making the i3-13100 a really budget-friendly option. However, the multi-core performance is nowhere near the 12400F due to a lower core/thread count. We expect Intel to equip its i3-141XX CPUs with e-cores. Either way, this CPU puts up some serious competition for AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7000 Non-X offerings. In Blender 2.92, the i3-13100F is slightly better than its Alder Lake counterpart. Moving over to 3Ds Max – Vray, we again see a negligible performance difference.

Gaming Performance

In gaming performance when paired with a GTX 1660 Super and 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, the i3-13100F is just 1 FPS faster than the i3-12100F. This is really disappointing but then again, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is not exactly a CPU-intensive title (when compared to e-sports titles).  Other games also show a very small performance increase including a major e-sports title, Valorant. Speaking of Valorant, the i3-13100F managed to score just 4% higher when compared to the i3-12100F. Yet again, the i5-12400F remains a better option. The sample size for a conclusive result is too small, so do not consider these benchmarks to be an actual representation of the performance.
