Today, we are looking at the HyperX Cloud and the Corsair Void Pro; two of the most demanded headphones in the market that deliver amazing performance for the price you are paying for them. For anyone who wants to buy the best gaming headphones, these two are definitely among the list available. This also warrants a proper comparison, so we can have a better understanding as to what we are getting ourselves into. That is why, in this article, we are going to be looking at both options and comparing them as well. We are going to be comparing these headphones in a number of different factors such as price, comfort, features, and sound quality. So, you do not have to worry about anything else that might be an issue.
Sound Quality
We are not going to spend any additional time talking about another factor because the sound quality is definitely one of the most important factors there are. Having used the original Corsair Void and being left with something to miss, I am definitely hoping that things are different here. The sound quality on the Corsair Void Pro does not disappoint at all, especially when you look at the fact that it is wireless. It actually sounds good. While the majority of gaming headsets focus on bass just to shake the soul out of you, the Corsair Void Pro is actually one of the more balanced headsets available in the market. Another great thing is that even when you are not gaming, you can actually use the headphone for music, movies, and other similar content, too. Without sacrificing anything. Corsair allows you to tweak the headset as per your requirement through EQ presets, too. Last but not least, I have to hand it to Corsair was actually pretty well when it came to handling virtual 7.1 surround sound, as well. On the other hand, the HyperX Cloud is another great sounding headphones, albeit a bit different from the Corsair Void Pro. It delivers a balanced sound but does keep in mind that it is the only stereo and does not offer any virtual 7.1 surrounds. Something that a lot of gamers actually have an issue with. Considering how we are gauging these headphones from the perspective of a gamer, the sound quality is better on the Corsair Void Pro mainly due to the fact that you have virtual sound surround as well as the ability to customize EQ presets. Winner: Corsair Void Pro
Comfort
Considering how you would probably be gaming for hours to come, having good comfort in a gaming headphone, or any headphone, for that matter is very important. Being a gamer, I really need my headphones to be comfortable because otherwise, it just makes absolutely no sense. The comfort level on the Corsair Void Pro is excellent; not much has changed since the original, and the headset feels really comfortable and light on the ears. It does come with breathable fabric on top, making the whole experience a lot easier than some of the other headphones in the market. However, if you have dry skin, then the breathable material does get some skin flakes stuck on them, which can be hard to remove. However, this is just a minor issue I have which is not directly related to the comfort level, at all. The comfort on the HyperX Cloud is also great; the headset follows a more traditional route with leather earcups that are plush and can sit on your ears for a long time. However, if you are in a hot room, do expect your ears to get hot too, because we are talking leather here, instead of any breathable material. Needless to say, as far as comfort is concerned, both headphones are pretty comfortable and do not really create any issues, either. You can have a great overall experience, and you will not have to worry about anything that might come in the way. Winner: Both.
Design and Build Quality
Gamers love good designs and that is what we cannot overlook. Sure, you might be wondering that a good headphone should have more practicality. Still, since we are talking about the perspective of a gamer, you should always look at the design and build quality, too. This is important and something that you should never avoid. As far as the design on the Corsair Void Pro is concerned, it certainly looks more gamer-esque than the HyperX Cloud, and we do not really blame the headset. The headset actually looks very aesthetically pleasing and even has RGB lighting. However, if you want to preserve battery life, we would advise against it simply because you are going to be running out of battery rather soon, and that is never something we suggest. The build quality is good, and the headphones do not flex that easily to the point that they are going to black. It actually is a nice feeling headphone. The HyperX Cloud, on the other hand, does not look like a gamer as you might think. Sure, there is a huge X on the ear cups, but aside from that, it is really hard to tell the difference. The construction is mostly out of metal, and the headphones feel solid, so you really do not have to worry about anything that might come in the way as far as the construction or design is concerned. Overall, both headphones have really great construction; but inherently different design language. Which means that if you are going for something that looks more futuristic, then going for the Corsair Void Pro is the right thing, but if you want something that is simple, and understated, then going for the HyperX Cloud would make more sense. Winner: Both.
Microphone
Considering how both headphones are actually targeted towards gamers, it is really important that they have a good microphone. Sure, if you have a separate microphone, that is fine. But if you are going to use the built-in microphone, you are going to need something better. The microphone on the Corsair Void Pro is actually a lot better than it was on the predecessor. I still remember using the original and was not pleased with all. The microphone sounded tinny, and there was no gain control present, either. However, the microphone on the Void Pro is exceptionally well made, even though you are not going to get stereo level input if you are gaming or chatting, it is actually a lot better.
The good thing about the HyperX Cloud is that it does give you the option to detach the microphone if you do not want to use it, but the overall quality of the microphone is average at best. There is a wind filter, too. But even that does not do its job the way you would want to. Sure, adjusting the microphone does help, too. But that defeats the purpose of being functional. Winner: Corsair Void Pro.
Conclusion
The conclusion is not that difficult, in all honesty. Both headphones are great, but there are some ways in which the Corsair Void Pro does the cake. Especially when you look at factors such as the microphone, and the sound quality; both aspects are extremely important when you are looking at good headphones, gaming or otherwise.
