The game is already available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios have revealed that they will release Fallout 4 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S next year alongside a “next-gen update” for PC. For those who already own the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, the upgrade to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series version is free. Additional features have been added, such as a performance option for high frame rates, quality settings for 4K resolution play, bug fixes, and additional Creation Club content. The main purpose of this update is to make Fallout 4, which was released in 2015, run more smoothly on current-gen consoles. After seven years, Fallout 4 is finally getting an update that Bethesda hopes will bring it back to life. Until now, the game has been kept alive by the game’s devoted user base via community mods. No information about the next-generation Fallout update will be released until next year, disappointing fans who have been waiting for this information. However, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the only Fallout game coming out next year. Todd Howard has stated that the next installment in the series, Fallout 5, is in the works and will begin development as soon as Elder Scrolls 6 is completed. While it is true that the wait is really long, let us hope that it was worthwhile. To end, Bethesda has also thanked its fans in the blog, who have stayed and supported them throughout this journey:
