Assassin’s Creed Project Red and Project Hexe Announced at Ubisoft Forward

This means the live service, Assassin’s Creed Infinity is going to be a gateway for future Assassin’s Creed games that would roll out slowly and steadily. Recently, rumors have emerged that the first two chapters of Assassin’s Creed Infinity would be set in ancient Japan and 16th century Europe and it was in the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10, today that this was confirmed by Ubisoft. The Japanese title, Assassin’s Creed project Red is currently being developed under the leadership of Johnathan Dumont over at Ubisoft Quebec. Johnathan has previously remained as the creative director of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and the game casts the player as an assassin operating in Feudal Japan. Ubisoft is describing this as the newest chapter in their open-world AC title that will feature RPG elements. A trailer was released for the game at the Ubisoft Forward Event.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg as there’s another chapter in development over at Ubisoft for the Assassin’s Creed Franchise that has been codenamed project Hexe. This title is being developed by another Ubisoft team over at Ubisoft Montreal and is being headed by Clint Hocking who has previously remained as the developer of Watch Dogs: Legion. Currently, Ubisoft has deemed Project Hexe as an altogether different kind of AC experience. Prior leaks have revealed that the game will take during the period of the Holy Roman Empire, particularly in the Renaissance era, and will focus on witch hunting. A trailer was also featured for the upcoming tile.

But that’s not all, we also got a little puzzle for Project Hexe as well that was cracked as fast as it came out. The creepy puzzle follows the witchcraft theme of Hexe set in the Holy Roman Era where witch-hunting was pretty much the norm at that time. The symbols and their details were revealed by a Facebook page by the name of PC Gamers of Pakistan, PGOP for short. The symbols and their translation give us an insight into what the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe could hold for us in terms of its Witchcraft theme. If you take a closer look at the symbols mentioned inside of the satanic pentagram and circle featured behind the logo for Assassin’s Creed Hexe, you’ll see what is known as the alphabets of Magus(sorcerer or witch). These symbols were primarily used by the masters of dark arts and witchcraft of the time. They were the prime symbols of Occultism back in the 16th and 17th century. The logo features what appears to be an outer and an inner circle. The outer circle basically translates to “Wir arbaiten imdem twnckel um dem licht zu deinen” which roughly translates to ” We work in the dark to serve the light” which is a famous quote used in many previous Assassins Creed games. As for the inner circle. It translates to “Mephisto reached hwsa” which means “Mephisto avenge our house” If you didn’t know, Mephisto is a devil in ancient mythology. While this seems all scary and whatnot given the nature of this puzzle, which hasn’t been the norm in Assassin’s Creed games, it does give us some insight into the lore of the upcoming title. Maybe Mephisto is worshipped by this particular brotherhood of Assassins? It seems pretty likely considering the details hidden in the logo. We’ll have to wait and find out what the story and the game hold for us. But for now, enjoy this spooky anagram! Moving back to Infinity, Ubisoft made sure to bring it back into discussion with a few more specific details about the title. The title won’t be a game in its own right but will act as an online hub that will integrate future Assassin’s Creed titles into the mix. One of the hosts and Ubisoft Forward described it to be the gamer’s own Animus. It seems like Project Red and Project Hexe will definitely be full-fledged open-world titles rather than mere indie games in what seemed to be an ongoing Infinity narrative. Ubisoft also hinted at some multiplayer titles and experiences that would be added later into the mix. Sadly, Ubisoft has not currently provided a launch date for Assassin’s Creed Infinity, Project Red, or Project Hexe for that matter, stating that they’ll arrive in the coming years. AC Mirage seems to be their upcoming big game in 2023, so it seems that we’ll be waiting for a while till we relish and savor every last bit of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Red will feature a new take on the Assassin’s Creed franchise with a Japanese theme set in the feudal era. Expect ninjas, Japanese-inspired stealth assassinations, and a whole of Shintoism-themed folklore and traditions. While Assassin’s Creed Hexe will shine a light on the Holy Roman Empire that took hold of Western, Central, and Southern Europe during the Middle Ages and thrived for a thousand years before succumbing to the hands of Napolean. So, what do you think of Project Red and Project Hexe? Will they be worth the wait and should Ubisoft have waited out before announcing them this early on if they’re expected to be released years down the road? What do you make of the hidden message inside of the Hexe logo? Let us know in the comments below. We upload daily on Appuals, so stay tuned for more. Till then, see you later and goodbye.
