Ryzen 7 5800X3D Overclocked

Over at CPU-Z, we see the Ryzen 7 5800X3D overclocked to a whopping 5.5GHz. The core voltage stands at 1.296V, still relatively in the ‘safe zone’. Aside from that, CPU-Z Validator confirms this CPU is paired with ASUS’s top-notch ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO motherboard and 16GB of DDR4 memory. In addition to that, the 4201 BIOS version is being used which is relatively old (29th of August). It is still unknown how this CPU was overclocked. Besides, we do not have actual performance metrics to showcase whether such an overclock is beneficial or not.

A Technology Far Too Good

The V-Cache technology has turned out to be a game changer for AMD. Team red may aim at launching more products in this lineup next year. V-Cache has a problem, however. It does not scale linearly in productivity and heavy workloads. While this is a great option for gamers, content creators may prefer to stick with Intel this generation. All in all, a last-gen technology being faster than the current-gen’s offerings is not something we see daily. This technology still has a long way to go. Intel may be adopting cache stacking as well sometime in the near future. Besides, team blue is going disaggregated with Meteor Lake, akin to AMD’s chiplet architectural design.
